Ministry Frontman Al Jourgensen Hospitalized In France

Industrial metal heavyweights Ministry were forced to cut a concert short in Paris last night after vocalist/guitarist Al Jourgensen was hospitalized. Fan-filmed footage from the show can be seen below.

While there has been no official word as to why Jourgensen was taken to hospital, RadioMetal.com reported that he appeared, "rather intoxicated and was nearly unable to move throughout the performance."

Jourgensen was able to make it through just fifty minutes of the show before he was taken away in an ambulance. In light of the frontman's health troubles, Ministry has also canceled their scheduled appearance at today's Rock En Stock Festival in Etaples, France.

Jourgensen is no stranger to substance abuse and the detrimental effects it can have on a person's health. He spoke about the damage done with Metal Hammer in 2011: “...in March 2010, I went into a seizure and bled out 65% of my body and they had to take me by ambulance to the ICU where I flatlined. I was dead. I couldn't hold down food and I just didn't know what was wrong. I spent a week in ICU where they gave me a 100% blood transfusion."

The 53-year-old Jourgensen added that while he was drug-free and the healthiest he had been in decades, he was still drinking two bottles of wine a day. "I have a male nurse who weights 350 pounds named Hector. I call him 'Hector, the third bottle rejecter.' I'm only allowed two bottles of wine a day now. And it doesn't even get to that. It's about a bottle and a half, and that seems to be good along with the medicine I have to take every day for the rest of my life. I just went and saw my doctor and she said, 'Yeah, you're actually doing pretty good for being a fucking degenerate.'”

Stay tuned for more details.
